Broken promise leads to historic action

BC Union to consider endorsing political party

The
Health Sciences Association (HSA) is considering endorsing a political party in the upcoming election. If they do this it will be the first time it has ever happened.

HSA represents many of the professional services we receive when we go to a hospital. This group has been a victim of budget cuts, privatization and government enforced agreements.
President Cindy Stewart told CKNW how her parents faced long drives to Calgary for treatment after the Campbell Liberal government shut down Kimberly hospital. She is mad the government is letting down her parents and thousands of other people who thought health care would be available when they needed it.

If the HSA is thinking about endorsing a political party we know there are many upset people out there. This union has traditionally not involved itself in politics. It looks like Gordon Campbell made another enemy when he broke his promises to honour contracts and provide health when you need it, where you need it.
