"...The absolute last guy."

Mayencourt must be biting his tongue a lot these days, haven't heard it much. Mayor Larry Campbell doesn't want the Mayencourt dude in town, that's for sure.

During the last election at a information meeting on harm reduction, Mayencourt said he was opposed to safe injection sites and demanded more police to round up the drug users. Lorne was playing the "I can make it so can they" card.

It's been called a feud but I can say it is a Mayor absolutely frustrated with Lorne's capacity to understand the issues and his mean-spirited attitude toward the poor, homeless and vulnerable.

Meantime, Mr. Campbell says he will do his part for the disadvantaged by working to defeat Mr. Mayencourt.

"There are lots of homeless people in his riding and [Mr.] Mayencourt's the last guy they need representing them in Victoria. The absolute last guy." Mayor Larry Campbell, Vancouver's most popular politician, on Liberal Lorne Mayencourt, Globe and Mail, May 5, 2005
