The Interior Health Authority has announced to staff that Pathology services provided by local pathologists will end on May 1. Effective May 2 the Pathology services will be sent out of province for analysis except in emergency cases if the plan presented earlier is to be used.
"We are seeing privatization and reduction in care under the model being introduced by the Interior Health Authority," said Kelowna Mission NDP candidate Nicki Hokazono. "Local surgeons will now have to call a Lab in Ontario to consult a Pathologist with respect to human tissue samples sent there to be analyzed. That’s a far cry from today when the surgeon walked down to the lab to see a pathologist." Read more here... and here (Pathology Crisis in the Okanagan ignored by Campbell Government - Hokazono)
